India vs Australia – Cricket World Cup 2011
Ponting must be devastated to have exited from the World Cup in such a manner. It’s been sometime since Australia have been knocked out in the knock out rounds. Indians this time did it. The only convincing win from India in this world cup so far (hope they’ll come good against Pakistan too).
I admire Ricky Ponting for his cricketing skills but not for his on field efforts particularly with his stupid sledging stuff. He looked like a lost man when the Indian team needed just 11 runs to win. For a moment I felt for him but yeah that’s how it is. The Australian team is an ageing team, they are yet to find suitable replacements for Adam Gilchrist, Mathew Hayden, Shane Warne, and Glenn McGrath. These were the people who led Australia to famous victories world over. Shuan Tait is nuts throwing the ball around like a lost kid.
One person that stands out in the crowd with respect to commitment is Bret Lee. I was not surprised to see him bowling again inspite of bleeding profusely after being hit by a ball trying to save a definite boundary.
The vigour with which he bowls is remarkable.
Another bowler who stood apart from the crowd is Zaheer Khan. We Indians must be proud to have him in our team. Rest of the beanbags in the Indian team should learn from him. His clever slow balls causes serious concerns in the minds of batsmen. I just don’t know why its so hard for the bowlers to pitch in the right areas. Munaf Patel looks like sleep walking to me. Coffee please!!
The best shot in the game was played by Suresh Raina against champion fast bowler Bret Lee. Bret Lee sent in a darter and Raina send the darter straight back. It was a shot to be watched and watched again.
Sad sight of the match was the dismissal of Sachin Tendulkar by Shaun Tait. We all wanted the little master to score his 100th ton combined in both forms of the game. The little master gracefully walked off the field as soon as he nicked but the umpire asked him to wait to check whether the ball bowled by Tait was a no-ball or not. Eventually Tendulkar had to walk as the third umpire confirmed the ball as legal.
I seriously doubt the reason of playing Dhoni again and again. He doesn’t score and keep well. Hope he doesn’t mess up stumping and caught behind chances against Pakistan. If only I was one of the selectors.
Overall a great game of cricket by Indians. Keep playing like this guys. Bring the cup back home.
Matt Redman: You never let go
Lyrics…
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back
I know you are nearAnd I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?
(Chorus:)
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me
And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth
(Chorus)
Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You
How to Negotiate a Raise at Your Tech Job
Found an interesting article on how to negotiate a pay rise. Hope this helps you get a pay rise.
Nigerian fraudsters arrested
Two Nigerian e-mail fraudsters were arrested in Bangalore. You might have seen e-mails being sent around with contents like “you’ve won $50,00,000 as prize reward”. These guys did just this.
The names of these guys is: Charles Michael Dumgiri and Oni Oluvabu Kola. Having fun guys?
They sent a mail to an Indian, Venkata Ramana Gowda, asking for 1 million rupees to transfer the lottery prize money. Hehe. I’ve seen numerous people fall in to this trap in my native. Just plain greed. When they come to know that they were cheated it’s too late.
Venkata Ramana Gowda tipped of the the Central Crime Bureau(CCB) who laid a trap for these guys. He invited these guys to the coffee bar at Leela Palace. Around 20 sleuths were positioned at various exits of the hotel.
As the CCB guys neared in on the fraudsters they tried to escape. But the sleuths were good enough to pin them down. One of them ended with head injuries when he tried to run through the thick lead stained italian glass door, costs around 12 lakhs. He ended up with glass splinters sprouting out of his head.
Regarding how Leela Palace get compensated for the damages, CCB says, “Either they have to collect the insurance money or wait for the conviction of these guys to file a civil case against them.” Cost of a coffee?
Well they charge Rs 50 for a coffee so this should be peanuts for them.
Kudos to Mr. Gowda for this brave move.
India vs South Africa – We did it again
There we go guys and this time we did it. Losing 9 wicket for 29 runs, not even Kenya can do that only lazy bums in Indian cricket team can achieve this tremendous feat. Once again Tendulkar’s ton went in pain. Poor fellow he keeps playing well and morons in the team keep screwing it up big time. The laziest guy in the team for me looks like Dhoni by the way he keeps defending his poor fielders by saying you won’t see drastic improvements. Why at all are we playing them in the first place if they cannot improve. Dhoni himself is not keeping well behind the wicket. Nearly screwed up a stumping, sent few byes the boundary.
Dhoni is running out of fuel. The only good score I can remember of him was his hundred against Pakistan, one of the fastest at that time. It’s time to sack him even if he wins the World Cup because of the poor captaincy and form. I can see him going out of ‘form’, his belly is coming out. Probably someone should arrange a bean bag for him behind the wickets.
Nehra is usually a good bowler but when it mattered he screwed it up. If he cannot prevent 14 runs being scored from at least one over of his then he should retire. India needs a genuine speedster. Munaf looks like he is sleep walking to me.
I saw a man, aged 36, as alert as a 20 year old and the rest should learn from this man: Sachin Tendulkar! He will be mighty disappointed with this sluggish Indian side. I hope to see some change in the team from next game onwards at least. Please bring in Ashwin and get rid of Harbhajan. Never bring in Sreeshant.
The only relief for me in the game was when Tendulkar and Sehwag was batting. At least they brought some respect to India my country. I read in newspapers Graeme Smith’s comment on the shots played. He said he has a cranked neck seeing the ball flying around. He also mentioned about how mature Tendulkar is to carry around all the expectation of the team.
Thanks to these two guys. The best shot for me in the match was the reverse sweep that De Villiers played against Zaheer Khan.
